About Our Instructors
This course is taught by top industry experts Elias Ayrey, Mateus Mendes, and Mary Ignatiadis of the Renoster team along with guest lecturer, Mike Smith of Aclymate. IElias Ayrey, PhD, Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder, is a remote sensing specialist with expertise in satellite imagery, LiDAR, and AI. Known for his engaging YouTube channel that simplifies complex carbon topics, Elias combines academic rigor with practical industry insights, holding a PhD and MS in Forest Resources from the University of Maine. Mateus Mendes, Forest Carbon Scientist, specializes in geospatial data and machine learning to analyze forest dynamics. With previous experience at Sylvera and Delta Blue Carbon, he brings a data-driven approach to showcasing forest ecosystem value. Mary Ignatiadis, Forest Economics & Policy Expert, has a background in carbon project development and natural capital management from roles at Native, PBC, and Manulife. She holds an MS in Forest Policy & Economics and focuses on economic drivers of sustainable forest use. Mike Smith, CEO at Aclymate, helps small businesses measure, reduce, and offset emissions. A former Navy pilot and founder of RenewWest, he also led the largest carbon reforestation initiative in U.S. history.
